Applications: The Onyx Smart Box protects pumps (especially
progressing cavity pumps) from damage caused by
run-dry or over pressure conditions. It can be
combined with our Isolator Ring for dependable
operation on viscous, abrasive, corrosive, or
volatile fluids, suspensions and slurries.

How
It Works:
The Smart Box is a pre-programmed micro-processor
based controller. It monitors a 2 point pressure
switch to insure that pumps stay within design
limits.
If pump pressure goes too
high, the Smart Box stops the pump, sounds the
alarm, and the "High" lamp comes on. The
Smart Box prohibits restarting until the over
pressure condition is corrected.
If the pump runs dry,
discharge pressure falls below the low threshold.
The Smart Box stops the pump, sounds the alarm, and
the "Low" light comes on. The Smart Box
allows the pump a 'grace period' for priming each
start up.
The Smart Box features
built in filtering to avoid nuisance trips caused by
short duration pressure spikes or dips.
With the optional Seal
Flush Package, the Smart Box turns on the seal flush
solenoid valve and verifies seal flow before
starting the pump motor. At shut down, the Smart Box
delays turning off the seal flush until the pump has
coasted down to a complete stop. If seal water stops
during pump operation, the Smart Box stops the pump,
sounds the alarm, and the 'Seal' light comes on.
Operation: The Smart Box has 2
buttons on its face: Start and Stop. The STOP button
is a 2 position, maintained button.
To start the pump, pull the
'Stop button out, and press 'Start'. A green RUN
button lights when the pump is running.
To stop the pump, press
STOP.
To enable the Smart Box to
respond to remote commands, pull the STOP button
out, but do not press START. A READY lamp
illuminates to signal that it is ready to
start. Pushing the STOP button blocks local and
remote 'start' commands.

The Smart Box can be ordered either of three ways:
This
version is simply the box with indicating lights,
buttons for local Start/Stop control, and the
microprocessor.
Motor starters, variable
speed drives, disconnect switch are all supplied by
others.
This
package includes everything needed to operate a
fixed speed motor, insuring that electrical code
safety requirements are met.
The package includes manual
disconnect switch, short circuit protection, thermal
and magnetic over load protection, a contactor,
microprocessor logic module, start/stop push-buttons
and indicator lights, all pre-wired and programmed.
Simply connect incoming
power and pump motor wires to the terminals; unit is
ready to run. Unit will accommodate unlimited remote
start and stop commands.
This
package includes everything needed to operate a
variable speed motor, insuring that electrical code
safety requirements are met.
The package includes manual
disconnect switch, short circuit protection, VFD
speed controller, microprocessor logic module,
start/stop push buttons and indicator lights, all
pre-wired and programmed.
Simply connect incoming
power and pump motor wires to the terminals; unit is
ready to run.
Unit will accommodate
